Last Meeting: SWAB PICNIC
Saturday, June 9, 2007,
Noon, Central time
RSVP to: Peggy Jordan, E-Mail - peggycpa@wideopenwest.com

This picnic is an opportunity for the new Swabs and their families to get a better idea of what to expect relating to the upcoming summer activities. It is also invaluable for the new Swabs to meet a few of their fellow future cadets so that they will have "someone they know" in their new environment. For the parents and families it is a great chance to learn more about the Academy and how to deal with the new adventure on which their son or daughter is about to embark. We expect to have a current cadet in attendance who will be happy to answer questions and give additional insight.

FALL 2003 MEETING:
Michigan City Coast Guard station
Was Saturday, September 20th, 2003

The "New Swab Picnic" was  a great success!

If you were unable to attend and have questions relating to Swab summer or the Academy in general please contact the webmaster or call one of the Great Lakes Parent's Association officers.  Phone numbers are listed in the Newsletter or Contact Us by e-mail.

This was an annual picnic for new Swabs to meet other incoming cadets and to hear from an upper class cadet and parents of cadets and graduates. This was an excellent time for the new Swabs to get a sense of what to expect and to establish new relationships with a few of their new class mates before swearing-in day. The new swabs and their parents received many valuable tips and hints at this event. For the new swabs it will be supportive and helpful to already "know" someone when they enter their new environment. It is just as valuable for the new swabs' parents to learn first hand what their children will experience and how they can best support them.
